How to Choose Between a Round or Square Dining Table

There are two main factors that you should consider when looking for a dining table: the size and shape of the room, and the amount of seating you’ll need. After you answer these questions, you’ll be one step closer to choosing what shape of table to purchase.

What is the size and shape of your dining room?

First, you want to make sure that your table fits the room and complements the space. You’re going to be spending a lot of time in your dining room, so you want to make it feel comfortable, not crowded. Choose a table size that will be easily accessible, no matter where you sit down. Make sure there’s enough space between the table and the walls to pull chairs in and out. 

Round tables can often save space in a small room, while square tables can be extended to accommodate extra guests in a large room. If your dining room is square, a square table will add symmetry, and a round table will create contrast.
